First of all, Canada Post and union have said a lot of things during the strike, but not everything they told is actually 100% exact.

A.J. IHMO, your problem is probably due to the fact there's no more local mail (letter) sorting in Ottawa. Everything is sent to Montreal Ville St. Laurent plant to be sorted before returning to Ottawa. Canada Post wanted to reduce the number of sorting plants and consolidated most of the Quebec City and Ottawa activities at their Montreal facilities. https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/canada-pos...real-1.1819970 They also did that elsewhere in Canada. I.E. Windsor mail is now processed in London: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/winds...ndon-1.1380455

Didn't know that but not surprised. Either way, I ended up having to dole out a refund as the purchaser was getting pretty upset (and didn't seemed to grasp that there was both a strike on and some things are being tied up and yet some were being delivered). As a consumer I am pretty peeved about it. So is my spouse who had a package sent in from the US two weeks ago. The tracking changed from Dec 8th to "undetermined". Great.

While I won't bog into specifics on either side, I will agree with you - we need to take both sides with a grain of salt as both will dramatize things (for obvious reasons). At the end of the day its the customers who are penalized in a labour dispute so hopefully we see a resolution and back to business in time for Christmas packages and mail to be sent out.
