  • October pick ups

Here is my first pick up of October. A Feb 1947 signed booklet. It contains 21 autographs including 12 Canadiens, 6 Red Wings and 3 other sports.
The is a rare Bill Durnan, an early Gordon Howe, some unusual ones, and of course the Rocket ;-)

    Very nice!

This is exactly what card companies are looking for. They cut up each signature and then make the card #'ed 1/1 - so stupid!

I had no idea that Leo Gravelle was Miss Montreal 1947.

I will preserve this one from beeing cut.
Miss Montréal must have been at the game!

It's kinda too bad she didn't know how to sign her real name.

I don't often hover in this grade territory for pre-war, but the prices were reasonable.

Nice pick up. I love that set. I picked up the McKenzie earlier this year from a board member.

There are some of these cards for sale on eBay from board members:

Larry is selling a group of 3 (including the Mikita). I can't believe that they haven't sold yet. If I wasn't 100% focused on Bruins, I would have bought these a long time ago.

Jeff also has one for sale that is pretty nice for the issue and a fair price.

              Good luck!

Just back from the Montreal show. I try to pick up something for my collection at every show. Nice early signature on a nice early photo and a note on the back as a bonus.

I hope you did not pay what he was asking!

Funny you should ask because the price played with my head a bit. I saw the photo in the morning but didn't bother to ask the price. I was walking around near the end of Saturday and decided to ask. I am assuming he gave me the same price as everyone else and he would not budge even a nickel. I thought the price was more than fair and kind of hesitated wondering why nobody had bought it already. I guess everyone thought it was expensive, To me it was half of the low end of what I thought the asking price would be. You just don't see many items like this.

Compare it to this one which I do not think is as nice and I think I got a steal --

I think it's a great picture with an early signature. The note on the back is also cool. You definitely got a better one than the the one in the link and for half the price!
I looked at it and still thought it was a little high price. What stopped me is the dedication. I will keep my $ for Rocket stuff, I am happy it's in good hands. Great item...

The Montreal show was a bust for me... with nothing interesting at all to purchase.
It was nice seeing a few people though, and talking to you Jim.
Thanks for the fun Kerr Ice Kings

My nicest pick up of the show Saturday, along with 2-3 minor Rocket items. A 1947 Montréal Canadiens team signed softball (was signed 5 months after the booklet I already posted and bought last Week from a different person)

The Sawchuk and Mantha came from the PWCC auction last month. And the Howe just came in the mail today from Anish!
