  • RIP Stan Mikita

Simply one of the greatest hockey players who ever lived. His transition from physical and sometimes dirty superstar to Lady Byng legend is an epic tale.

For the young guys who never seen him play Stan was the real deal, a top player through the sixties and early seventies.Very consistent year in and year out and a long career playing with the banana blade.

I'm very sad to hear about this. He was such a talented player and the biggest reason Bobby Hull has that one ring.

Hmmm...a friend to many on the forum here, the late Pierre Pilote would have won the Conne Smythe if it existed in 1961 (according to what I've read about those playoffs).

I don't think there's any doubt that Mikita is underrated by most observers. Stan and Bobby were the top two players of the 60s. I'm not sure which one is #1 and which one is #1A.
