  • Whats your favorite 70's hockey set?

    Mine 71-72 OPC/ the funky 70's design.

  • #2
Don't have any favorite sets from the 70s, as I'm not a set collector. I do have many cards I like from the 70s, spread out over different years.

Not a fan of the 70s designs in general but like 1971, 1973 (both but esp Topps), and 1979.

      • #4 the design, love the WHA cards, always like league leaders and playoff great year for insert sets.

Hard to argue against 71-72. That design screams "70's"

Here's my Top10 for the '70's...more a fan of the early years, not so much the late ones...
            #1 1971-72
            #2 1972-73
            #3 1970-71
            #4 1974-75
            #5 1976-77
            #6 1975-76
            #7 1973-74
            #8 1979-80
            #9 1977-78
            #10 1978-79
Absolutely love the first two, and like wjhipwell mentioned, the 1972 set had so much going on (other than key rookies), it was great...3 series with the last being so tough, 3 insert sets, action shots, playoff cards, etc.

I pretty much agree with this list. One change I would make is to move 1979-80 up to #4. Even without taking that one major rookie card into account it would be a nice looking set.
1973-74 has a couple of nice rookies but it's damn ugly. The Topps cards from that season are so much nicer with higher gloss and the additional blue and yellow border colours.
