We have graded a lot of incredible cards at the National. Two "Pop 2" rookie standouts. 1969 Topps Alcindor and 1979 OPC Gretzky in PSA 10.

Will this do anything to the value of 9s and 8s.......

Surprised that it's just a pop 2; it is 1979 after all, with lots of unopened wax and likely quite a few well-kept closet collections. We should see more, IMO. Certainly a few 9s will be upgraded too, also IMO.

A 10 is a 10, unless you are Nigel Tufnel - the guitarist in Spinal Tap!?!

I doubt it will have any impact on value, A Gretzky rookie will always be collectable no matter what the grade is...And I also think it will have minimal impact on the value of a "10"..
By the way, the new 10 is an absolute beauty, far nicer than the 1st 10..
